Commentary
Several studies have examined personality aspects of individual giftedness.
However, no study has provided conclusive results on these. In the current meta-analysis, investigating the nature of the relationship between the Big Five dimensions and inter-individual talent, hedging unbiased g was used as the measure of effect size and a three-level multilevel meta-analytic approach was applied for dependence between effect sizes from the same study.
This analysis used 82 effect sizes from 13 published studies and found significant differences between gifted and non-gifted participants with respect to openness to experiences that favored gifted individuals. However, there were no significant differences in extraversion, cooperation, integrity, or neuroticism tendencies.
