This study examines these secondary outcomes of a pilot study of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBCT) for PTSD using MDMA.
A treatment course combining CBCT for PTSD and two MDMA psychotherapy sessions was conducted in six romantic dyads where one partner had PTSD.
The results were assessed during treatment, post-treatment, and at 3- and 6-month follow-ups.
Both partners reported improvements in post-traumatic growth, relationship support, and social intimacy; partners reported decreased adjustment to behavior and relationship conflict; and PTSD patients reported improved psychosocial functioning and empathic concern.
These results were reported to be maintained throughout the follow-up period, suggesting that CBCT for PTSD with MDMA has a significant impact on the relationship, and growth outcomes, of this pilot sample.
