Several metabolic disorders have been identified in case reports of COVID-19, and according to this study, post-acute polyphagia has been identified.
This study reported a rare case of polyphagia in a patient after acute COVID-19 disease.
The case is that of an A-41 year old Ugandan woman who tested negative in her medical history.
This woman complained of excessive appetite, eating large amounts of food, inability to feel satisfied, inability to control her desire to eat, and weight gain for 6 months after recovery from mild
This was reported after she developed acute COVID-19 pneumonia. The woman's body mass index increased from 22Kg /m² to 30Kg /m², but she had no history of polyuria, polydipsia, pruritus, or previous eating disorders.
According to clinical examination, CT scan of the brain was normal, fasting blood sugar was 5.6 mmol / L, adrenocorticotropic hormone level was 8.763 pg / mL, erythrocyte sedimentation rate was 12 mm / h, but glycated hemoglobin level was elevated.
The woman began psychotherapy and behavioral changes, which yielded positive results.
