Commentary
There is growing concern about the possible cognitive consequences of COVID-19, with reports of symptoms persisting into the chronic phase and case studies revealing neurological problems in severely affected patients.
However, there is no information on the severity of the disease and the nature and widespread prevalence of cognitive problems after infection, hence this study was investigated.
The subjects underwent a clinically validated web optimization assessment as part of the Great British Intelligence Test from January to December 2020.
The data included cross-sectional cognitive performance data from 81,337 participants and questionnaire items that collected self-reports to determine if there was a relationship.
These analyses supported the hypothesis that COVID-19 has a multi-domain impact on human cognition, consistent with reports from The Long Covid.
