The study will investigate whether the preferences of people of higher social status in the modern era are inclusive, exclusive, or both.

Recent research suggests that both are preferences for these two. However, we do not know how such preferences are learned, supported, and expressed without contradiction.

They have decided to address this question by showing the affordances of different levels of culture in the expression of preferences. Based on the original survey data, the researchers showed that high-status people have different preferences at different levels of culture.

According to the results, they preferred genres to be more inclusive and objects to be more exclusive.

Inclusivity at the genre level is promoted through family socialization, while exclusivity at the object level is promoted through formal schooling, according to the study. And the composition of individual preferences reflects, and perhaps reinforces, the social structural position of adults.
