In this article, we will talk about how to take care of your teeth to prevent cavities.
Have you ever had a cavity in your teeth?
Many people have experienced some sort of dental problem, but oral care is a topic that many people are interested in.
There are many things to worry about when it comes to dental problems, not only the demerits of the disease, but also the etiquette of interpersonal relationships.
When it comes to such oral care, can you just use a toothbrush?
The following are some of the researches on this topic. I would like to introduce a study on this topic.
The study
Thirty-five RCTs with 3929 participants were reviewed, but the risk of bias was high due to the difficulty of blinding, and only two of the studies had low bias involvement.
Many of the participants had low levels of gingivitis.
In the experiment, a toothbrush used for brushing was compared to a
Flossing
Interdental brushes
Wooden cleaning sticks
Rubber/elastomer interdental cleaning sticks
Oral rinsing machine
The results were compared.
The results showed that
Tooth brushing + flossing (SMD -0.58)
(SMD -0.58) May reduce gingivitis in 1 month?
Toothpaste + interdental brush (MD -0.53)
Gingivitis decreased in 1 month, but there was no difference in bleeding sites.
It seems that plaque was removed well.
Toothpaste + wooden cleaning stick (MD-0.25)
Possible decrease in bleeding site in 3 months?
Toothpaste + rubber/elastomer interdental cleaning stick (MD-0.22)
Plaque could be reduced in 1 month.
Toothpaste + mouthwash (MD-0.00)
Even after more than one month of effort, the bleeding area did not decrease.
The researcher commented that
Flossing or using an interdental brush in addition to a toothbrush can reduce gingivitis or plaque, or both, better than a toothbrush alone.
An interdental brush may be more effective than flossing.
Available evidence for tooth cleaning sticks and oral rinses is limited and contradictory. Results were measured primarily over a short period of time, and most study participants had low levels of baseline gingivitis.
Overall, the evidence is very low to very low certainty, and the observed effect sizes may not be clinically important.
Future trials should report the periodontal status of participants according to the new periodontal classification and continue long enough to measure adjacent interdental caries and periodontitis.

Home use of interdental cleaning devices in addition to tooth brushing to prevent and manage periodontal disease and tooth decay. Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews 2019, No. 4. Number: CD012018. doi: 10.1002 / 14651858.CD012018.pub2.
Conclusion
It was suggested that dental care should be used in conjunction with toothbrushes to eliminate the need for brushing.
I don't know if there is a difference in the performance of toothbrushes and other products, but maybe we should just try our best to get rid of plaque.
Toothbrush + interdental brush is recommended, and I think this study gives us some confidence in it.
