The Narcissism Aggression Relationship: Results from a Meta-Analysis.

The link between narcissism and aggression: a meta-analytic review.

Theoretically, these results indicate that provocation is an important moderator of the link between narcissism and aggression. People with high narcissism have "thin skin" and tend to become aggressive when provoked. In fact, these results suggest that narcissism is an important risk factor for aggression and violence.

Commentary

A meta-analytic review of this study found that it tunes the link between narcissism and aggression and the association under provocative conditions.

It reviewed a total of 437 studies involving 123,043 participants and found that narcissism was associated with both aggression and violence. And they found that this relationship was stronger in the provocation condition than in the no provocation condition, but important in the absence of provocation.

Also, all three aspects were related to aggression, as both good and pathological narcissism were related to aggression. the three aspects are qualification, grandiose narcissism, and vulnerable narcissism. In addition, it has all forms of aggression. This means indirect, direct, replaced, physical, verbal, bullying, and other forms of aggression that are reactive and proactive.

Important for men and women, all ages, students and non-students, and people in individualistic and collectivistic countries, these results seem to be conclusions drawn by studies conducted in all conditions.
