In this issue, we will discuss medical services and mass media.

The mass media frequently cover health-related topics.

It is a major source of information on important health issues, and it targets health professionals and those who aim to influence patient behavior.

The paper presented here aims to evaluate the impact of mass media on the use of health services.

What are the studies?

Twenty studies were included in the study.

Fifteen were on the impact of formal mass media campaigns.

Fifteen studies evaluated the impact of formal mass media campaigns, and five studies evaluated media coverage of health-related issues.

The overall methodological quality varied.

Six studies did not conduct statistical analysis, and nine used inappropriate statistical tests.

All but one study concluded that mass media is effective.

These positive findings were confirmed by our reanalysis in seven studies.

The direction of the effect was consistent across studies for the expected change.

Comments from the reviewers.

Despite the limited information on important aspects of mass media interventions and the low quality of available primary research, there is evidence that these communication channels play an important role in influencing the use of medical interventions. Although the results of this review may be influenced by publication bias, those engaged in promoting better uptake of research information in clinical practice should consider mass media as one of the tools to encourage the use of effective services and encourage unproven effectiveness.

Conclusion

The power of mass media is tremendous. This was the result of the study.

In the case of Japan, due to the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law and Medical Law, extreme statements are discouraged. However, as annotated, experts and testimonials are personal opinions and views, so they may not always be correct.

There are also mass media that use extreme expressions to gain ratings and views, and do not know what is right.
