In this article, I will show you how a massage after running can help you recover from fatigue. I'll show you how.
Do you like massage?Do you like running?
This article is for those who like both, but what are the benefits of getting massage therapy after running? Here is a study that investigates this question.
The Study
The study involved 78 people after a 10km run and the area that was intensively approached as massage therapy was the area around the quadriceps.
The experimental group received a 10-minute massage to the quadriceps muscle for recovery after sports practice, while the control group underwent sham joint mobilization.Pain and fatigue were each assessed using a numerical rating scale from 0 to 10, which was validated by something called the McGill Pain Questionnaire.
Then, mood was profiled using the Brunel Mood Scale.
Quadriceps flexibility using maximal knee flexion angle with an inclinometer, knee extensors were checked using hand-supported isometric muscle strength, and vertical jump performance was also included in the assessment using jump height via the Jump2 app, immediately before and immediately after the assessment intervention, and at 24, 48, and 72 hours after the intervention.
Results.
The experimental group scored significantly lower than the control group on the numerical rating scale for pain by 0.7 points (95% CI 0.1-1.3). However, there were no significant differences between the groups on any of the other outcome measures.Massage therapy was effective in reducing the intensity of pain after application to the runners' quadriceps compared to sham techniques, but the effect size was small. There was no significant effect on perceived fatigue, flexibility, strength, or jump performance.

Summary
The number of pain points that could be reduced by massage was 0.7, so it is possible that post-run massage may reduce muscle pain, but it may also have an effect on other things due to assumptions.
