Does skewing a child's diet increase growth rate?

If you are raising children or have experienced nutrition education, what kind of diet did you have?Some of you may not remember because you were children, and some of you who are raising children may not remember the details because you are busy with other things.

I don't think so, but it seems that some people who are vegetarian, vegan, etc. and have an unbalanced diet are forcing their children to follow such a diet.

There have been studies on such diets to see if they have any effect on child development.

Contents of the study

At the conclusion of this study, we found some evidence to suggest that aggressive feeding of animal products promotes growth and weight gain, and some evidence to suggest that it does not.


The study.

The study was a review of six studies involving a total of 3036 children aged 5-50 months at enrollment.

Interventions were conducted in China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Guatemala, the United States, Pakistan, and Zambia, with intervention periods ranging from 5 to 12 months.

Three of the studies compared animal foods with iron or iron and zinc added to them with grain foods without.

Another two studies compared animal products with no intervention.

Yet another study compared meat with dairy products.

Yogurt

Cheese

Powdered whey protein

were included in the study.


Three studies reported accelerated growth and weight gain in the intervention group compared to the control group.

One of the two studies showed a decrease in both height and weight of children in both groups, with no difference between the groups.

It found no difference between the groups.

The other study showed that both groups of children decreased in height and weight, but the decrease in the intervention group was smaller than in the control group.Given the conflicting findings on growth and weight, the impact of animal-based foods compared to grain-based foods, or the impact on children under 50 months, was considered unknown.

The results of studies on illnesses show that

One study using yogurt found that children who consumed it were less likely to experience diarrhea or respiratory infections, and if they did, they recovered more quickly.

Infants consuming a meat-based diet showed a significant increase in height compared to infants consuming a dairy-based diet who experienced a decrease in height.

Both groups gained weight, but no differently.

And according to this study, this is not a solid conclusion due to the low quality of the studies that were included.

Conclusion

The conclusion of this study is that it is unclear whether or not unbalanced diets or balanced, high intake of some foods can significantly alter growth.

If nutrition education is misunderstood, it may be perceived as a biased ideology to raise geniuses or to make children athletic, and it may force children to follow strange habits.It is difficult to achieve a good balance, and I am not sure if it is good for health even if it is well-balanced, but I have come to realize that it is not good to be too biased. However, I have come to realize that it is possible to be too biased.
