Characteristics of people who fail in their study methods

study

This time, I'd like to talk about study methods that fail.

Do you have a particular way of studying?

Many people believe that this is the best way to take notes. There are many people who believe that this is the best way to take notes, and there are also people who are not confident in their studies and are looking for a different way to study.

There is a study that shows that some study methods are psychologically prone to failure.

The study

In an experiment conducted by the University of Michigan on 668 online learners, over 90% of the students who were presented with an excellent learning style achieved some kind of success.

These participants could be divided into "essentialists," who have faith in their learning style, and "non-qualitarians," who are flexible enough to question their learning style.

According to the study, people tend to ignore their learning styles, which are predetermined at birth, and waste their time and money on traditional or mythical learning styles, which they seem to prefer.

When the subjects of the study were given a questionnaire

Essentialists believe that traditional learning styles should be adopted, and that they are age-independent.Non-essentialists believe that learning styles should be flexible, adaptable, and changeable according to the environment.

Non-qualitists believe that learning styles are flexible and can be adapted and changed according to the environment.

According to Nancekivell, who analyzed these results psychologically, while essentialists may have strong beliefs, they may also tend to have difficulty responding to different facts when confronted with them.

Findings from another study also showed that despite the variety of learning styles, educators may reduce the overall level of learning by providing a consistent learning style.

As Nancekivell commented

The point at which people find learning styles appealing seems to be that they prefer styles that are consistent with the behavior of the masses.

In addition, you can choose your learning style, and you can also choose information that is highly evidence-based.

This was a good point.

Conclusion

The study showed that learning styles can be divided into essentialist and non-essentialist, and what characteristics they have.

The study did not describe how to identify the style. It didn't say how they identify their style, but they may somehow know which style they are.

I continue to practice the method I believe in, and I don't bend.

If you are a person who tends to do things the way others tell you to do them, you will not be able to do them.

If you have a tendency to do these things, you are probably an essentialist.

Those who are non-essentialists are considered to be essentialists if they tend to practice the above two methods but change them when they have doubts.

It is important to try any method, but those who continue to do it even if they are not getting results or deny it from the beginning tend to be essentialists and may not get results as a result of their learning.Style seems to be genetically determined, but researchers say that it can be changed.

Since we can't change our style by being told by others that we can't change our style, our success in learning may be based on whether we can question it ourselves.
